There's always been photos of fake M cars all over the Internet. I never paid much attention to this trend of slapping M badges on non-M cars until recently. This past weekend I spotted a phony X3M. It's quite amusing to find people putting M badges on their normal BMW vehicles. I just wanted to share with all my readers something I saw as interesting. I understand the feeling that M car owners have. We all paid hefty amounts for a more exclusive car and want them to stand out in the crowd. It's a little concerning that anyone can simply buy an M badge off of the web and attach it to their vehicles.
But in all honesty, I don't think that it's such a big deal. Maybe the owner of the phony M car truly wanted a real M car but is unable to afford one. Perhaps he/she thought it would be funny or catchy. However, as true car enthusiasts, most of us can spot that its a phony M car from far away. To those who don't find cars interesting, you probably don't recognize the difference between an M car and a normal BMW. So, I don't really think that slapping a fake M badge on a car is going to do anything for anyone. It's not like its common practice so hopefully next time when you see one, I hope it makes you smile, maybe just a bit.
