As promised, here is my post about attending the BMW Ultimate Driving Experience event held in SF. I got to see up close and personal the M760i, M550i, and M2! I sat in every one of them so you guys can get the most exclusive content with some of the coolest BMWs! I got to the event well before my autocross event so I could check out all the cars at the event. I had to park on the gravel ... not a great start to the day. But good thing no damage. The staff was super friendly. Everywhere I went the staff were helpful. The check in booth had about 5 people manning the station so everything went smoothly. But just look at this lineup outside. There was an i8, X6M, M550i, M4, M2, M760i and 540i. I didn't realize at first but all the cars are unlocked so you can go in and check it out. I spent about 2 hours in total going thru every car and getting some great pics! Check out this austin yellow M4 with M stripes. It is simply stunning. I couldn't divert my eyes away from this thing ... Sorry M3 but I wish I had this spec instead. Here's the BMW M2. Forgot to get a fully body shot ... seen too many M2s by this point. Here's the M550i. The interior is completely redesigned as it's part of the newest lineup of the 5 series sedan. The controls are now ceramic, pretty much meaning that they're this high quality shiny black. It feels and looks nice and high end. The black just gives it a bit of a sporty feel. The instrument cluster is now all digital and the center console is now touchscreen. Here's the newest i8. There's not much change to the 2017 model. It looks and feels the same as when it first came out. The headlights are now laser. The room in the back is terrible. I couldn't even get the seat to lock back ... if you have friends and want to keep them, only bring one friend at a time and put a backpack in the back or something. The car is still incredibly hard to get in and out of. Kinda twisted my back ... oops. Don't worry I'm fine. If you're wearing a dress or your lady friend is, just be careful not to flash anyone getting outta the car. Simply put there's no graceful way in and out of the car. This is the M760i. I have no idea why there's an i at the end of the name because that usually denotes RWD but this vehicle is AWD putting down the 0-60mph sprint in about 3.6s making this the fastest accelerating BMW ever produced for mass market. I also don't understand why they would make a luxury limo the fastest car BMW has ever made. I would expect it to be on their i8 or at least an M car. Don't worry, the newest M5 will be even faster with an expected 3.2s 0-60mph sprint. Here's the actual vehicle used in BMW's film "The Escape". It's actually a really nice short film BMW crafted together. I actually wish it was a full length just judging from the quality and story line. You can even see the bullet holes in the car! It was a gloomy day outside when I went. It was also windy so I quickly browsed thru all the vehicles on display outside. Quickly meaning spending 2 hours going into and out of every car they had on display. Inside the building was a very nice spacious setting with BMW items on display throughout. There was a stand for pictures, food and even a VR motorcycle that you could take a ride on. Unfortunately, the VR was simply a video and you couldn't control the actual driving dynamics. They even had a staff making coffee just for the guests! I think the environment was exceptionally welcoming. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. Especially considering that this is a free event that BMW put on, I would give it a 10/10. I had an absolute blast driving and looking at the newest and greatest cars BMW has put out recently.
