Sneak Peak at the 2018 BMW M5

We just got a sneak peak at the newest 2018 BMW M5. It will feature over 600HP paired to an 8 speed ZF transmission with AWD. Click down below for more info!
The M5 will now only be available with AWD due to the shear amount of horsepower this car is putting out. It's just way too much for a sedan doing RWD. If it was alot lower with 350+mm tires and a huge wing then RWD is still doable. I do agree with BMW that this is the way to go. If you want RWD then the next gen M3/M4 will still offer that.

The AWD system will also be able to transition to a RWD mode if so desired. But in order to get the car to launch to 60mph from 0mph, AWD will be required. The sprint is estimated to be in the low 3s range, comparable to the E63 AMGS. The DCT system will not be available since it is not suitable for cars of this horsepower range. I think durability is the issue here. The interior is redesigned with a more modern look. I personally think this generation M5 looks alot better than the one previously. The mule for the M5 was also spotted in the Pleasanton / Dublin area for testing! No idea why, but hey that's definitely cool. You can start buying the vehicle in spring of 2018!
