BMW M550i Spotted Without Camo

11/2/2016

The latest upcoming offering from BMW and its 5 series lineup is the M550i. It's been reported to have a rear biased all wheel drive system that launches it to 60 mph is a blistering fast 4.0 seconds. It's supposed to be powered by a twin turbo V8 engine with approximately about 100 -150 HP less than the new generation M5.

This new release by BMW will mark something bold and frightening for us M3/M4 car owners. The M2 has a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds and with this release of the M550i, it too will be up the alley of M3/M4s in terms of straight line acceleration. With more and more horsepower added each year will the M3/M4 be dethroned? I don't think so, at least not for the next few years. The M3 will handle much better than the M550i in corners and will out run the M2 in the straights. We will just have to wait a few more years and see if the M3/M4 successor will be crowned on top yet again.
